Come and delight in all things Italian as the State Museum presents an Italian Street Fair in celebration of the new blockbuster exhibit Leonardo da Vinci Machines in Motion. Enjoy:
  • Sidewalk Chalk Painting 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
    Create your own masterpiece as the Italian street painters do!

  • Children’s Coloring and Crafts  10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
    Color the Mona Lisa and make a Venetian mask!

  • Sons of Italy Lodge 2808  10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
    Learn about Italian heritage in America.  Italian novelty items for sale.

  • Special Olympics Bocce Club  10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
    See demonstrations and learn to play this Italian version of bowling.

  • Renaissance Re-Creationists  10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
    The Canton of Cyddlain Downs, local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronisms, invites you to travel back in time to the Renaissance!

  • Great Italian Food  11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
    Lasagne, spaghetti and meatballs, manicotti, pizza, salads, gelato, cannolis and tiramisu! Who could ask for more?
    Enjoy the best of Italian food from local restaurants Villa Tronco, Antonina’s Ristorante and N.Y. Pizzeria, and Dupre-Dukes Premier Catering.

  • Book Signing 12 – 2 p.m.
    “Stop Where the Parking Lot’s Full—A Collection of Sandlapper’s Favorite Restaurants” by Aida Rogers and Tim Driggers.   A culinary road map of South Carolina’s best restaurants from seafood to soul food.

  • Belle Arti Enterprise  2 – 3:30 p.m.
    See performances of ballet and the tarantella, an Italian peasant dance, from students of the USC Conservatory of Dance, followed by a selection of popular Italian songs sung by Anna Dragoni.

  • Wine Tasting  5 – 8 p.m.
    Sample a selection of fine Italian wines accompanied by light hors d’oeuvres and entertainment provided by Mike Tronco and guitarist Jackie Muckenfuss.  Then view the new exhibit Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion.  Wine orders will be taken by the bottle or by the case.
    Cost of wine tasting: $15 general public, $10 Members of the State Museum.  Tickets sold at the door.
